Harmony Lane Farms and Creamery was founded by Julie David in 2016. Julie’s agritourism
business came about due to her contracting gastroparesis 15 years ago. Researching
to see if there were other options for treatment besides medicines, she came upon the
benefits of raw goat milk. Reflecting on her childhood devoid of any pets, in 2011 she
told her husband, “I would like a goat,” and promptly went out and bought four goats
along with some chickens and cattle. Those first four goats soon became a herd of 16
and with a surplus of their milk she decided to make goat-milk soap and cheese. The
menagerie at one time included 178 goats, and each has a name on the family’s
64-acre farm, along with numerous other animals. Harmony Lane Farms then evolved
into the ideal weekend attraction for one looking to stock up on quality, local items and
lose yourself in that unique magic only time spent in the company of animals can
provide, with farm tours and goat cuddling, sometimes even interacting with baby piglets
and cows. At the time of its closing at the end of 2025, Harmony Lane Farm &
Creamery was one of Smithville’s top year-round tourist attractions. Visitors to the farm
toward the end were in tears realizing just how special a place it was and grateful for the
wonderful memories and experiences Julie gave them with her vision of sharing her
animals.
After its closing in November 2025, Julie sold her soap and lotion business to Laura and
Corey Magdalik. To learn more about them, read their bio on the website.
