Goat's Milk Soap
Goat milk soap contains vitamins A, B6, B12 and E, goat’s milk feeds the skin and repairs damaged tissue. Goat’s milk also has three times more beta-casein than cow’s milk, which allows for easy absorption and quick hydration of dry skin. Alpha-hydroxy acids are present, which naturally exfoliate dead skin cells from the skin’s surface leaving new cells that are smoother and younger looking. Water-based soaps may use harsh chemical acids to accomplish this, frequently with skin-damaging results.
The cream present in goat’s milk is a moisturizer, which alleviates dry skin and decreases inflammation. Think of the creamy texture of any milk and imagine that soothing balm on irritated skin. Because of these nourishing characteristics, goat’s milk soap eases pain from psoriasis and eczema.
Research shows that goat’s milk is effective for treating acne and other bacterial skin infections. This is due to the anti-bacterial properties of goat’s milk that delays the growth of microbial organisms that spur the spread of acne/infection.
Selenium has an important role in preventing skin cancer and skin damage. Many areas in the United States have pastures low in selenium. At Harmony Lane, our dairy goats get a selenium booster, to ensure their mineral needs are met.
